Still Sanity: A two-artists exhibition by SADO & INxSANIxTY
“Still Sanity” presents the work of 2 artists: SADO & INxSANIxTY. These artists explore independently however encounter overlapping elements, for example, the commonality of their cultural experience along with the use of figurative language and bold colour palettes with intent to portray an experience, emotions or idea/ls. The works tend to depict a sense of freedom along with underlying conflict, reflecting the human condition and making the results wildly relatable. Completed often through the use of paint with the inclusion and/or abstraction of the human form, along with various mark-making techniques provided in their personal styles and creative narrative are skilfully marked on canvas.

There always seems to be unanswered questions, which leaves me feeling like I never know what’s really going on. My paintings are created through a sensation of submission and yielding, exposing a part of myself that is not often presented to the world. They are drawn from a shadow-self, allowing stylistic freedom, being that the structure and foundation of the paintings are created through technical form, along with the colours being physically moved across a surface thereby encapsulating and depicting a sense of freedom. I constantly try to restore the balance within myself, therefore constructing a narrative that forces me into a present state of being. As someone who dissociates, my obsession with being present means I often examine it through physical movement. Painting bodies, especially female bodies demonstrate the adversities of their existence-being aware of the parts which makes one's body, all the while having a predisposed sexual connotation. I paint these figures with religious influence to preserve the sanctity of the nude body as religious figures, deities and gods are widely still as respected in nakedness as they are clothed - reflecting the ultimate ideal absorption or reaction towards the female form. While painting these figures I have concluded that human nature cannot be defined, rather it is restricted by pseudo intelligence, things that we deem to be intellectual, disguised as distractions which ultimately pull us away from simply being, thus limiting our ability to be one with ourselves

Born in London and moved to Nigeria at age 7 INxSANIxTY was exposed to a multitude of cultures and it was in Africa that he first discovered his inherent artistic gift. However, this talent was not explored imminently and he spent 8 more years in Nigeria, only returning to the UK (in 2008) to join the air training corps. Although his love for aircrafts intensified and he went on to imagine himself in the air force as an engineer or pilot, studying electronic engineering (and science) at degree level, however he continued developing his creative journey. In his free time, he was tutoring himself about the intricacies of the art world and whilst in his 2nd year of University studies was consistently practicing and nurturing his crafts; it was then it became abundantly clear that being a creative and an artist was his true calling. In the summer of 2014, he moved away from Brighton University onto London, where he began a degree in event management. He was simultaneously at this time branding himself as an artist, by the name INxSANIxTY. In the summer of 2015, he took part in his first (group) show at ‘House of Vans’ (Waterloo). Since then he has achieved further establishment as a force in the art world by moving into his own studio, taking part in numerous solo and group exhibitions, being involved in public art displays, festivals and working in spaces such as Tate exchange, Church house, The Africa Center and Mall Galleries. Not just this, but he has been featured in local and international media such as Viceland UK, BBC, The Evening Standard and The New York Times.
